English Teaching

The educational system especially in pedagogical methodology is different in Nepal than the other countries. The local schools and their managing committees, the guardians are always in need of a volunteer who can share his/her own teaching methodology as well as helping the schools teachers to develop their won conversational English skills. For which our club will assist in providing accommodations across the kingdom of Nepal in both urban and rural areas.

Volunteers will be placed with a Nepali family in one of the program village. The host family will live no more than a half hour walk from the school. Volunteers will teach at the local school for 2 to 6 hours each day, six days a week, with a break on Saturdays. The school children will be mostly 10 to 16 years of age and have basic English skills.
Depending on the assignment, you will either teach alone or co-teach with a Nepali English Language teacher. Class size ranges are from 10 to 80 students.

Volunteers enrolling in this Program will also be expected to share their own teaching methodologies as well helping the school’s teachers to develop their own conversational English skills. To be successful, volunteers need to have a good knowledge of grammar. Previous teaching and/or TOEFL experience is a plus.
