Minbhawan, Kathmandu, Nepal – March 1, 2025 – In a powerful demonstration of global solidarity, leaders from Lions International gathered to further their mission of service and humanitarian outreach. The event was marked by the symbolic laying of the foundation stone for a transformative multi-story, multipurpose building, chaired by Multiple Council Chair Lion Ramesh K Lama. This ambitious project is designed to enhance community service infrastructure and expand the scope of social welfare programs across the region. Lion Lama warmly welcomed all the Lion leaders and hosted the program, setting the tone for a day of unity and purpose. The foundation stone ceremony was graced by a traditional Vedic Swosti Vachan performed by young Brahmins, adding a cultural touch to the proceedings.
The ceremony was led by Former International President J Frank Moore, Past International Director (PID) Er. Sanjay Khetan, and International Director (ID) Balkrishna Burlakoti. PID Sanjay Khetan highlighted about the significance of the Multipurpose Building project, while J Frank Moore III praised the efforts of Lions Nepal in his address. ID Balkrishna Burlakoti further elaborated on the achievements of Multiple District 325, underscoring the progress made by Lions in Nepal. Building Committee Chairperson, PDG Lion K P Awal, took a moment to express his heartfelt gratitude to all the Lion leaders and participants for their unwavering support and active involvement in the event. With deep appreciation, PDG Awal highlighted the collective efforts that have made this significant project a reality, underscoring the commitment of both Lions International and the local Lions community in bringing lasting positive change to the region. Following the foundation-laying, the delegation visited the TU Lions Blood Transfusion and Research Center, Kritipur, a pivotal healthcare facility that plays a crucial role in addressing the medical needs of local communities. The visit underscored the importance of blood donation services and further highlighted Lions International’s continued efforts to support vital healthcare initiatives throughout the region.
The day concluded with a formal banquet, providing international leaders the opportunity to engage in thoughtful discussions on leadership development, enhancing regional cooperation, and expanding humanitarian initiatives to maximize global impact.
